Green Vest {Fashion Thoughts}

I've seen cute army green vest around the fashion world lately, and I so wanted one. But I never thought I could pull it off. Once I saw one at Old Navy, I knew I had to get it.

 I loved pairing it up with the maxi dress. I think it pulled the look together. 

What I also love about this vest, is that you can wear throughout the year. Pair it up with a dress or shorts in the summer. For fall and winter, pair it up with long sleeve shirts and jeans and even leggings. Definitely a good item to have in your closet.

I'm still getting a hang of these mini photo shoots. And if you ask my cousins, you will definitely know I had some awkward poses. But I did have fun.

Skinny Jeans {Fashion Thoughts}

Today's A-Z Letter is S... for... Skinny Jeans 
Ohhh goodness!! It's been a busy week!! First of all, Happy Easter, I hope you all had a wonderful, blessed Easter Weekend. Second, this has been such a busy week. I had an interview and I had my first day as a substitute paraeducator. I was so nervous, but excited at the same time. :) It went well, so I'm excited.  Another exciting thing that happen was this mini photo shoot. I love fashion. And I must admit I'm far from being a fashionista, or a fashion blogger, or a model but I do love to shop for some cute things. And I wanted to show my inner, wannabe fashionista with a new weekly feature on the blog. 

First up my favorite Skinny Jeans right now.

October 4: The job you'd love to have.

Every since I could remember I found myself doodling, drawing dresses and tops, skirts and pants on the side of my notebooks or on a drawing pad. But it wasn't until my Junior year in High School when I fell in love with sewing, and creating clothes. I took a fashion design class as my elective in Junior Year and then again in Senior year. I loved it. Mrs. Thompson, our teacher, had is create 5 sketches every week to turn in as our assignment. I loved being able to draw clothes on those croquis. Besides our weekly sketches, we also had assignments to work on on the sewing machine. Yes there was about 20 sewing machines in the classroom, we worked on Jackets, Pajamas, Tote Bags. I loved it.

The second time I took it Mrs. Thompson pushed me and I challenged myself to make some dresses. My homecoming and my prom dress. ** I looked everywhere for these pictures..:/

Although I still had a lot to learn. Yes I knew how to sew using patters, I knew how to hem a dress, I learned to put zippers and buttons on, I learned to put the boning on dresses to make the corset look, I plaid around with different fabrics. But my sketches weren't perfect, my sewing needed a bit of work, I wanted to learn how to make my own pattern. I realized this is something I wanted to do. The more I thought about it the more excited I got, I researched FIDM here in Los Angeles, even took a 3 day camp there in the summer. I started thinking of opening a boutique!!

I didn't work out right after high school. But now that I got my B.A and finished college, I want to get back to it. I want to take some classes to sharpen my drawing skills, and my sewing techniques. And I want to save money so that someday I can open a business. Those dreams that my 16 year old self (even my 10 year old self) had are still present now, in my 23 year old self. I hope that I will never give up on it, even if it is a far away dream.

Fashion in the Office

Seeing that I had an interview today I decided to write a quick post on Interview and Working outfits.

I get super nervous about interviews but I look forward to outfits the most. lol. Head over to Fab5Adventures to read my post on my interview and some interview tips, here.

But on this post we will talk about some fashion. Like I mention I love getting dressed up. I loved adding new pieces to my closet even if its just on my Pinterest closet. I feel that it is really important to look good when going to an interview. It is when your future employer will get a first impression from you, and of course we all want to show an intelligent, fashionable person.

This is what I wore this morning. I felt that this position was on the laid back side, and decided not to wear a suit, but rather a nice salmon/pink button down blouse at Old Navy, with some grey jeans that I bought at Forever21 (the color makes it more professional than regular scenes) and some low nude heels that I got at Payless.

When choosing outfits to wear, we have to keep in mind what kind of job we are interviewing for.
Whether we need to wear a two piece suit, or whether we can wear some nice dress pants with a cute blouse, or jeans or blazer. Think whether the job is more creative so you can play with some color like a colored blazer, or whether is more professional/executive where you can use color as your accents in accessories.
